so far i dont see any probs with this patch other than losing connection with a few servers during gameplay (others playing on ts did as well).
the squad jumping fix i think slows the game down a bit, but in the long run it makes for a better all around game where you really have to work hard to keep your squad leader alive and formulate better gameplans on how to attack/defend a flag.

btw, did you edit ANYTHING in bf2? i saw another post on another forum recently showing how to edit out the beginning screens so it goes straight to the login screen. i dont know if this would have anything to do with your problemo, but maybe there are checks on all the files to make sure they're there and also unedited. just a thought.

Uno I dont think editing is the problem... I made it to bypass all my screens and go straight to the login screen when I start the game up.
All I did to do that was add a +restart to the BF2 shortcut. I installed the patch and it works just fine even skipping straight to the login screen when started!

I had sent EA an email about it:
Hi,
Thanks for writing us at EA Technical Support. I understand that you are currently having crash issues with Battlefield 2 after patching up to version 1.3. I apologize for your situation, and the inconvenience that this causes you. I would like to ask where you downloaded the patch from?
Please try repatching the game and see if the issue persists.
Also, try cleaning out your Temporary directory. Do not delete the folder itself, open the folder, select all of the contents, and then delete them. Often you will get an error that some of these files can't be deleted. This is usually because they are currently in use, so first let's end any program that would be using these temporary files.
· Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
· Click the "Processes" tab.
· Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name.
· Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
· Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names.
· Click on END PROCESS
· Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.
Note that some applications may take multiple times before closing. Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system. Once this step has been completed, please proceed to the steps below.
· Double click on "My Computer"
· Double click on the C: drive
· Double click on the "Windows" folder.
· Double click on the "Temp" folder.
· Hold the "CTRL" key and tap the "A" key to select all.
· Tap the "Delete" key on your keyboard and accept the "Are you sure you want to delete these files" prompt.
If the issue still occurs try downloading the patch from the link below:
ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/
I hope this helps and that you will continue to enjoy the game. If you have any other questions feel free to reply to this e-mail, and I will be very glad to help you out to the best of my ability.
Should you require further assistance with this game or other Electronic Arts games in the future, please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase at http://support.ea.com/
Thank you,

LOL
I have seen some stuff on BF3 coming out maybe this year. Back to the modern middle eastern warfare type game. I would wager that it will be launched on all platforms. I don't mind playing on the PC, but I definitely prefer kicking back in my ez chair for marathon gaming sessions.
I am gonna take a pass on the Bad Company stuff though.

no one pretty much the only pc game anyone played was BF 2.
BF BC 1 & 2 i dont like to me its feels too slow not like BF2. but hey you never know some people might pick it up but if they do its prob gonna be on the console instead of PC. im waiting for BF3 hopefully they will go back to the roots and play similar or feel similar if not ohhh well.
